  3. 3

Copy the ones that fit, or copy them all, and check each one makes sense for your audience.

  4. 4

Add them at the end of your post, or in the first comment on networks where that reads better.

Specific beats popular

A very broad hashtag such as #business or #marketing is followed by many people and used by many more, so a post tagged with it disappears in seconds. A specific tag such as #PediatricNursing or #B2BSaaSMarketing has a smaller audience that is actually interested in that topic. The generator is tuned to prefer specific tags over generic ones.

Hashtags are also a signal of what the post is about. A few accurate ones help a network understand and categorise it; a long list of loosely related ones does not.

How many hashtags to use

Most networks have no strict limit, but more is rarely better. On LinkedIn and X, a few relevant tags are usually enough. Instagram allows up to 30, but a smaller, focused set reads better. The generator returns three to six so you can choose. Remember they count towards the character limit like any other text.

Tips for better hashtags

  • Check each suggested tag on the network before using it: make sure the posts under it match your topic.
  • Mix one or two broader tags with more specific ones for your niche, industry or location.
  • Use CamelCase (#FourDayWeek) so the tag is easier to read, including for screen readers.
  • Do not put styled bold or italic letters inside a hashtag: it stops working as a hashtag.
  • If you post in French and English, use tags in the language of the post.

Frequently asked questions

Is the hashtag generator free?

Yes. You can use it a few times a day without an account. Signing up for free gives you more daily suggestions, and ProPost suggests hashtags on every draft.

Why is there a daily limit?

Each suggestion is generated by AI, which has a real cost. A small daily allowance per visitor keeps the tool free and fast for everyone. It resets every day at midnight UTC.

How many hashtags should I use on LinkedIn?

There is no official number. A few specific, relevant hashtags usually serve a post better than a long list, and they keep the text readable.

Does it work for Instagram, X and other networks?

Yes. The suggestions describe your topic, so they work on any network that uses hashtags. Check the tags on the network you post to, as usage differs.

Is my text stored?

Your text is used to generate the suggestions and is not saved to an account or published. Only an anonymous daily usage count is kept to apply the limit.

Which languages does it support?

Write in the language of your post. The generator works with English, French and other common languages.
