Content pillars and idea bank

propost-content-pillars

Quando ajuda

Defines 3 to 5 content pillars for a personal brand from the person's expertise, audience and goals, maps them to channels and formats, and seeds the ProPost idea bank with 10 to 20 specific ideas via add_idea. Use for "what should I post about", "content strategy", "personal brand strategy", "I don't know what to write", "help me find my topics", "my content is all over the place", "build my idea bank", or when list_ideas is empty or thin.

Turns a vague "I should post" into 3 to 5 pillars the person can own, a map of which pillar goes where, and a bank of ideas specific enough that each one becomes a post without further thought.

Before you start

  1. get_account: plan (the idea bank has a limit), drafts left, autonomy.
  2. list_channels: networks in play; pillars map to these.
  3. list_ideas (limit 200): what is already banked, so you add rather than duplicate. Note any idea with a post_id (already used).
  4. list_posts with status: "published" (limit 50), if any: what they already talk about, and what got numbers in engagement.
  5. list_personas: niches the voice already declares.

Workflow

  1. Gather inputs in one message (offer defaults, accept short answers):
What do you know that others pay for or ask you about?
Who do you want reading this, and what should they do after (hire you, buy, recommend you, invite you to speak, apply)?
The single goal for the next 90 days.
Stories, wins, mistakes and opinions you can share publicly.
Topics off limits (employer, clients, confidential work).
  2. Draft the pillars. Test every candidate against three questions: Can they say something specific here that most people in the field don't? Does the target reader care? Can they produce 20 posts on it without repeating? Drop any that fail one.
  3. Show the pillar map as a table: pillar name, one-line promise to the reader, proof they have (experience, numbers they can state), main channel, best formats, share of posts (sums to 100%).
  4. Get a yes or edits, then generate ideas.
  5. Write 10 to 20 ideas, spread across the pillars in the shares agreed. Each idea is a brief, not a topic (see guidance). Show the list before saving, with a pillar tag.
  6. Save with `add_idea`: text (up to 2000 characters) and a short title that starts with the pillar tag, e.g. "[Hiring] The interview question I dropped". One call per idea. This uses no AI draft. Stop and report if the bank is full (idea_limit).
  7. Hand off. Offer propost-weekly-content-plan to turn the first week of ideas into posts, or propost-thought-leadership-posts for the strongest idea.

Writing guidance

Pillars are ownable territory, not categories. "Marketing" is a category. "Marketing for bootstrapped B2B teams under 10 people" is territory. Typical shape for a founder or expert:

Pillar typePromiseExample
ExpertiseI teach you the thing I know"Pricing B2B software without discounting"
Point of viewI say what others won't"Why most onboarding is a retention tax"
Story and proofI show what happened"What our worst quarter taught us"
Behind the scenesYou see how I work"How we run a four-day week"
PersonalYou know who I am"Why I left banking at 34" (only if true and public)

Aim for 2 expertise or point-of-view pillars carrying 60 to 70% of posts, and 1 or 2 story or personal pillars carrying the rest.

An idea is a brief. It names the angle, the specific detail and the reader's takeaway, so generate_draft can use it as the idea:

  • Weak: "Talk about hiring."
  • Strong: "The one interview question I stopped asking after 40 hires ("where do you see yourself in five years") and what I ask instead. For first-time managers. Point: a question should predict a behaviour you can check."

If an idea needs a number or story the person has not given, add a marker: "[add the real number]". Don't invent it.

Map formats to channels. LinkedIn: stories, lists, opinions (long text, documents later). X, Threads, Bluesky: one sharp line or a short thread. Instagram: visual, carousel or video first. Google Business: practical local updates. Pillars stay the same across channels; the cut changes.

Variety check before saving: no more than 3 ideas in a row from one pillar; at least 3 different formats (story, how-to, opinion, list, case, question); at least a third of ideas start from the person's own experience.

Guardrails

  • Use only expertise, results and stories the person stated. No invented credentials, clients or numbers.
  • Don't bank ideas about third parties (named clients, former employers) unless the person confirms it is public and fine to share.
  • Don't delete_idea existing ideas to make room without asking which.
  • Don't generate drafts in this skill; it ends with a bank and a map. Say that no AI drafts were used.
  • Don't exceed the idea limit; say how many fit.

If something fails

  • idea_limit: the bank is full. Offer to delete used ideas (those with a post_id) or stop at the remaining capacity.
  • rate_limited: pause and continue; keep each text complete the first time.
  • plan_required: tell the person the connector needs Pro or Premium.
  • Anything else: see ../CONVENTIONS.md.
